This is an Echidna. An Echidna is a spiny insectivorous egg-laying mammal with a long snout and claws, native to Australia and New Guinea. I photographed this guy at school. (Click on an image to enlarge it.)
He was just doing his own thing minding his own business, digging for ants and insects as Echidnas do.
Something about being in the presence of this Echidna helped me to feel calm. I think he was just living his life in the moment. And this is how I prefer to go about my days on this Earth. Just taking it day by day whilst doing my own thing. Not focused on exams in the coming week for example. Not planning it's holidays a month in advance. It was just digging for ants and minding it's own business living a simple life. And if "Simplicity is the most difficult of all things" (as explained by Swami Ajaya), then it appears that this Echidna has achieved this to a much higher level then I.
I think the same can also be said for this Wombat that paid my school a visit in August, and these Skinks.
